Do I Need A Visa For India?
For U.S. citizens: Yes, you need a visa to enter India.

For non-US citizens living in U.S.: Yes. A copy of your permanent resident card or your valid U.S. visa is
also required in addition to your passport. Call for consular fees for non-U.S. citizens.

For applicants of Indian Origin applying for a visa for the first time on US passport: Yes. Additionally,
copy of the most recent Indian passport that has been canceled by an Indian consulate or a copy of your
renunciation certificate must be submitted with the application.

For applicants of Indian Origin applying for a visa on a new US passport: Yes. Additionally, a copy of
your renunciation certificate must be submitted with the application.
Tourist Visa (T Visa): issued to a foreigner who enters India for sightseeing, family visiting, or other
private purposes.

Business Visa (B Visa): issued to a foreigner who is invited to India for a business visit.

Student Visa (S Visa): issued to a foreigner who comes to India for a study for a period of 1 - 5 years.

Employment Visa (E Visa): issued to a foreigner who enters India to work under a contract.

Transfer of Visa: for transferring an Indian visa from an old passport to a new passport.
